On December 2, 2019, the Banqware technology company, the owner of the banqUP brand, obtained a KNF (Polish Financial Supervision Authority)

license to provide services based on access to banking information (so-called AIS).

Under the regulations arising from the PSD2 directive and the obtained license, the company can both provide services to its clients and support companies from various industries in the area of open banking.

BanqUP is the fourth company in Poland - after Blue Media, PayU and Kontomatik - to be included in the register of licensed suppliers providing new AIS services, kept by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.

AIS (Account Information Service) is a service that provides access to information about account or several bank accounts details. The new AIS services are regulated by the PSD2 directive, which entered into force in mid-September.

The technology platform developed by banqUP allows to easily integrate with other banks 'systems, and thus obtain data from their clients' bank accounts. This, in turn, enables the provision of new services, such as the integration of bank accounts, checking of creditworthiness, identity confirmation or support in managing liquidity of SMEs.

Until now, entities wanting to provide services based on access to information about bank accounts, had to integrate with each bank separately, using the APIs provided by banks. Today, we can do it for them, ensuring easy integration with all the banks in EU, and providing data in a unified way, through one simple interface. This dramatically reduces the time and costs of introducing new services to the market - explains Krzysztof Pulkiewicz, co-founder and CEO of banqUP.

BanqUP currently provides access to banks from six European markets - Belgium, Ireland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Poland. These countries are not chosen accidentally - in this way the platform offers access to all major European banking API standards. The system offered by banqUP already forms the basis of a multi-bank platform for a large financial group in Europe and two large banks in Poland.

Ultimately, banqUP also plans to enter the area of online payments and is also considering the introduction of the "TPP-as-a-service" service - significantly accelerating access to banking infrastructure for fintechs.

BanqUP wants to be one of the technological leaders in the developing European open banking market.

Open banking is just beginning. The market will be won by the entities that will offer the greatest value-added. Maybe banks, maybe fintechs. Speed and innovation are not only the features of young companies. Old stagers can deftly integrate them into their businesses and gain an advantage thanks to their capital and the great trust they generally enjoy in Poland - says Krzysztof Pulkiewicz from banqUP.
